Math overview letter Math Instruction at Del Mar Heights Del Mar Heights School is committed to preparing students for the meaningful application of mathematics in the 21st century. Guided by current research and the Common Core State Standards, we strive to promote the development of students’ conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application of mathematics concepts. The goal of math instruction is to foster children’s ability to interpret and solve problems, communicate mathematically, and confidently apply their knowledge in real-world contexts. We maintain a curriculum that is responsive to each child and their individual needs. Responsive Instruction and Differentiation Teachers understand that each child is a unique learner.
